Loving Maisie!

What this site is …

This site is about the everyday joys, trials, tribulations and fortunately rare sorrows of our multicat household. It's about dynamics and flow. It's about old and young cats, rowdy and tranquil cats, healthy cats and cats with ongoing medical conditions. It's about those currently with us and those who no longer crowd the food bowls. We love them all, still.

In recent years, we have generally had nine cats. Nine cats, nine lives: 81 lives.

… and what it is not

We are not veterinarians; neither are we professional animal behaviorists. Where medical issues are presented, I have attempted to distinguish between professional advice and personal interpretation or response. Our experiences are our own, as are our opinions.

Acknowledgements

I am grateful, first and foremost, to my husband for bringing cats back into my life. Joan came with John; she was his bulwark in his single life and became the cornerstone of our family.

We are grateful to veterinarians in general and to our own vets, past and present, for their technical expertise and heart. We are grateful for reliable, dedicated and delightful home and catsitters. We are grateful to public and private animal shelters, rescue groups and humane associations, and to their volunteers, foster parents and supporters. We are grateful to clinics that offer free or low-cost spay and neuter programs. We are grateful to the legions of animal lovers, educators, columnists, cartoonists, Web sites, bloggers and personal friends who have shared in writing, conversation, photo and illustration their knowledge, experience, humor and love of our animal companions.
